Compact Flash speed

Compact Flash speed - does it differ with different models, for example Lexar offers anything fron 80x to 600x,
does this affect data transfer speed or is it limited by EMU's internal bus speeds?

Anyone know?

The ESI range of samplers speed is determined by the OS, it makes no difference what speed card you have.

The Ultra samplers use the SCSI-chip AM85C80 with a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 megabytes per second.
The multiplicator of the CF cards is according the old CD-ROM single-speed transfer rate of 150 kilobytes per second.
So a CF card with 10x transfer speed will be as fast as the EMU can go.
A 133x card would transfer nearly 20MB/sec which would be twice the maximum transfer rate of 8-bit Fast SCSI (SCSI-2).

I get stuck on the EMU logo and thats it..... I have the compact flash in the reader aswell.. Ive messed with various termination and SCSI ids but nothing is happening... Anyone who has done this before and has any tips for me it will be appreciated...

If you installed the cardreader IN the sampler and removed the floppy drive, you have to short PIN 33 & 34 of the Floppy connector with a jumper.

Hi, are these really hotswapable? I installed a powerswitch on the cardreader to be able to remove the power when plugging/unplugging the PCMCIAcard - good idea or not?

@razo:
Yes, if you use the SCM PCD-50B SCSI-cardreader then you can remove the PCMCIA-adapter while the device is on.
I asked the guys at SCM for this. This cardreader is capable of hot-plugging.

BUT:
Never insert or unplug the storage media card that is in the PCMCIA-adapter while the PCMCIA-adapter is in cardreader.
