e5000 upgrades

Postby djthepurist » Wed Jan 21, 2004 12:13 pm

Hey can E5000's be upgraded to e4xt status ?? they seem to go fairly cheap . Also i read alot of people have probs with the e5000 crashing ?? is this solved in the e6400 ultra ? have they a stable operating system for the e5000 now ?? this would suck in a live set .....

all the E4's (e4 platinum, e4xt ultra, e6400, e5000) all run on EOS, the same OS, so crashing shouldn't be due to what hardware piece you own. the latest version of EOS, 4.61, seems fine in terms of stability. i'm even running version 4.70, a beta version of a new OS never officially released (although my brand new E4XT Ultra came w/ it pre-installed?)

about upgrades, i'm not TOO sure, but i thought any e4, even the E5000 could be upgraded to E4 platinum (every option imaginable) status.
someone should verify this though...u could ask emu too of course ;)

I have the e5000 and it's running very stable with no real crashes so far (that's done it :biglaugh:)

You can have a maximum of 12 analogue outputs (4 + 8 outport option) as opposed to 16 on the e4xt. You cannot upgrade to 128 voice polyph from the 64 standard as you can with the e4xt.

I think that's it
