Newbie question: e4b bank to floppy then to E4

Postby memorycleaner » Thu Apr 25, 2013 5:39 pm

I have several wav files I want to add to my E4 EOS v4.62.

What is the simplest way to do this and cheapest?

What I've done now is convert wav files to e4b. How do I get it to the floppy?
Do I need to format it so that it can read the file proper?

Are there anyway better to do this?

Edit: I'm on windows 7 x64, if that helps.

I'm new to this.

Thanks.

Your EOS version can read floppy discs in DOS-format (1.44 MB).
If your samples are not larger than 1.44 MB you can copy them to a DOS-formatted floppy disc and load them directly with EOS.

Hi, and thanks for replying.

I figured out that I could copy the bank to the floppy. The one I did was about 700KB, but it took over 10min to load it into the E4.

Also, there must have been an error in the translation, because the sounds were all distorted.

I read in a manual that the E4 reads wav files, but again when I try to read them from the floppy I just get an error.

So my question is simply this; what is the best way to transfer wav files to the E4. I use a non Ultra. Is a CF card the way to go? How much do they cost?

Thanks.

Distorted sounds... ???

It is written somewhere that in this case you should rename the bank as ".eb4" instead of ".e4b".
In this case EOS will swap the high & low byte of the samplewords.

The CF cardreader won't work for the classic-line for transfer between MAC/PC and EOS because EOS below 4.70 (only for the ultras) does not support FAT32.

Midi Sample Dump should get the job done for FREE!
I've not tried it myself but I believe that sample size is only limited by your samplers memory, however it's a slow process and you might want to put the kettle on while transferring data.

You can use soundforge but Electron C6 software will do this for free.

There are other software titles that will also work, some pricey (Chicken System Translator) some free (Google is your friend)
