Saving EMU presets to floppy without the samples

Postby tectonic » Fri Feb 13, 2004 11:10 pm

Me and my mate Miklo are playing around with my EMU E64 right now and we have a SCSI CD-reader and the internal floppy drive. We have saved three samples to a CD record and have had no problems reading them into the EMU via SCSI.

Problem now is that we want to save the preset data (at what notes we have placed the sounds on the keyboard etc) to a floppy, but we don't want to save the sample data - on the AKAI S-950 it's possible to save the preset without the sample data but I'm not sure if it's possible to do on the EMU E64? :???:

Here's how you do it...

Hit the Preset Manage button and press Export. Make sure the floppy is in the drive and that it's been formatted. You'll see a screen that says Drive: Folder: and Bank: Make sure the Drive: is set to the Floppy Disk. Then hit OK. Now, what might happen is that a message will pop up that says "The Device Is Locked". If that happens just hit the Disk/Browse button and highlight the Floppy Disk icon. Then press Info.../F6. Then switch the mode to unlock and you're all set. Just try to export the preset to the floppy again.

Thanks mate!

Will this give me the choice to just save the preset data and not the sample data, though?

When you export to floppy from the preset manage screen you're only saving the preset data. No sample data. But they don't give you a choice. If you want to save the samples and the preset data, you need to save from the Disk/Browse screen.
