getting there...slowly...and zip problem

Postby tek_uk » Mon Jun 07, 2004 10:37 am

Right, in my course (curse???) to make more use of my EMU, I have now acquired an scsi zip drive. My E4X (EOS 4.1) can see it ok. The idea is that I would use zip to transfer presets and samples between my Mac G4 (which has no scsi and no floppy) and the E4X.

My problem so far is that though the EMU sees the zip, it can not read it when formatted as DOS by the Mac (on OS 10.3).
Now, if I format the zip with the EMU, the mac `can't read the zip???
I understand it should be formatted to FAT 32 but how do I achieve that so that both can read the zip???

Thanks

Only EOS 4.7 supports FAT32. Im not sure that the E4 non ultra's can have EOS 4.7 installed.
Lets see some options.

ZoeOS is the NUMBER 1 solution, however there currently is no Mac OS X version. www.zuonics.com has all the details on ZoeOS and a forth coming OS X version. Keep your EMU and buy this app, it wil be a tru lifesaver.

In the meantime, also available is Translator from :

http://chickensystems.com/products/tran ... slator+Pro

I tried this app ages ago an their custom piece of junk installer kept crashing, if those guys could write software properly they would create a bundle like 99% of OS X apps, which come in a dmg image an u drag the app the the disk for installation, or use Apple's installer app or use VISE X. Maybe it works now, worth a try.

Another app is cdextract

http://www.cdxtract.com/home.php

Has another custom pice of shit installer, fsckin windowz dev's are so lame, anyways this thing doesnt install the app to the 'Applications' folder, it installs it at the root level of ya boot disk so u have to manually move it to the 'Applications' folder.

check ya PM
