Adat issue ...

Perhaps I'm asking a bit much...

If I'm running my E6400 adat outs straight into say .. Cubase/Nuendo (w/ auto delay comp.). Should latency be expected?

I'll end up printing all the tracks by mixdown, so the timing would be correct. But it seems when monitoring with live inputs, the more plug-ins you load & the heavier the project gets, the more the timing falls off. For example, if all my drums are coming from the E-MU it'll be out of sync with a virtual instrument of some sort. So my only solution is to bounce parts into audio & edit /arrnge there.

What I'd really like is just keep the Emu's inputs live at all times. But because of PCI latency monsters like UAD-1's, I don't think its possible. Anyone think wordclock would resolve any of this? I'm a bit of a twit when it comes to wordclock, never had to fuss with it. Any suggestions appreciated!

i do that with logic under mac os 9 and an rme hammerfall (16emu chaneels via adat into the computer) and i have constantly a delay of around -70 set for the emu midi tracks/notes. then it works fine. i dont see things like the latency getting different when the usage is heavier in my system.

I have the same Setup ( Logic & OS9& Hammerfall ) .

no Latenz ! no Problems. ( Dual G4 1,25 )

Thanks, I figured out my problem.
It was coming from my UAD-1's. Because of their architecture, it causes the latency to nearly double. Looks like I'll have to track with native plugs during the writing process.
