I decided to sell my Emu E4xt Ultra.
Comes with:
1) Jaz 1gb drive with lots of discs, at least 15 with sounds
2) scsi cd rom and I have lots of CD's as well, not just emu cd's. I have very good samples.
3) 30 gig hard drive in it 7200rpm.
4) It has 64 megs of ram, which is all I ever needed, but you can upgrade for 20 bux to 128.
5) It has a flash rom chip installed inside, I'm not sure if that came with it stock.
6) Nice Adaptec SCSI card for it to connect to the computer, and EOS link.
7) All necessary cable to get it running
8) An ascii keyboard .
9) It has Rack Ears too
It's in good condition and it sounds killer. I know sound is subjective, but the converters in this unit are just unique. Hard to tell. And the filters, wow. I'm sure you all know about it, after all this is an Emu forum. The LCD is in good shape as well.
This thing has always been more than a sampler to me. With its synth capabilities of turning a sampled waveform into a monster and the sound of the converters, I found creative ways to use this. One Thing I did with this box that always made good recordings sound better, was it as a mastering box. I would attach it digitally to my lynxone soundcard and bypassed the lynx's DACs and monitored directly off the Emu Ultra. This is probably one of the best uses for this box other than sampling. In sample mode, I enabled monitoring from digital in just so I can use the DACs on the Emu. Instead of mastering entirely ITB, I would just do some adjustments while monitoring with the EMU, and then I would finish the track with the Emu tools. Well, the result was that same awesome sound you get from the Ultra. You all know what the Ultra does to samples after messing with them with all its goodies, now you can imagine what it will do to a whole track. This is the secret to put the 2" analog tape sound and warmth to a digital track. It did something to the sound that no plugin can do. Plugins can't recreate the sound of this unit period. I never did record from the Emu to a medium, but its an option, and a nice one.
