6400 Ultra Midi A IN Problem... Broken?

Postby R3k » Wed Sep 28, 2005 12:45 am

Hi all. Ive been browsing these forums for a while, and have learnt a great deal here.. ty guys. A few weeks back I got a 6400 Ultra with the Upgraded Midi option. Have been going through all sorts of trials getting it up and running the way I want, but this one problem just cropped up in the last few days, and was wondering if anyone had any advice.

Midi A IN doesn't work properly.

running midi data into Midi A results in one or sometimes all of the below

1/ 10 second lag before the note plays
2/ Random notes being played all over the place and random control data wreaking havok
3/ Notes that don't stop.. just sustain on and on
4/ The EMu GUI freezing, usually tempoarily.
5/ Short spouts of User Anger and Depression

Now, If I plug into Midi In B instead, and use CHannel 17 to 32, the EMu works fine.

I ran the diagnostics, and it reports Internal Midi as good with No external cables attached, and External Midi only reports Good if I have a cable connecting Midi B In to Midi B out... Im a bit confused by the definition between Internal and External Midi though.... explanations?

Ive Installed EOS 4.7 to try and fix it, and then installed 4.6 again. No Go. I even reset the EEprom.. to no avail.

Has anyone experienced anything similar, or can offer some advice?

cheers
