The sampler and hard drive both need to have a different scsi id number. Each scsi device must have its own individual scsi id number to be recognised.

If you have the sampler and hard drive both set to the same scsi id number then they will conflict.

If it still doesn't work then you may need to format the drive.

disk>select drive>utils>format

thanks man,
i've changed the settings...
now sampler is on scsi id 6 and the hard drive is setted to scsi id 2....
enabled avoid host option...
i see the icon
but...i cant format...it says..."format in emu or fat?"
whatever i decide to do it says...."formatting 0 folders and 0 presets...."
if i try to save a sample loaded from the floppy to the hd...it says "bad device number..."

thanks man!

Hmm strange, I bought a hard drive from them and it worked fine.

Make sure termination is set to on for both sampler and drive. There should be a switch on the back of the drive, in the sampler it is master>setup>scsi.

If it still doesn't work it could be the scsi cable, the drive or scsi on the sampler.

You don't have anything else connected via scsi do you?

thanks for the answer...
well...
i saw the switch and it's setted on number 1
my sampler is setted------>
scsi id : 6
termination : on
disk button goes to: last
avoid host : 3 (do i have to set it at number 1???)
drive saver : never
probably it's a problem caused from the adapter i used to connect the hd to the sampler.........like you said....do i need to buy a 50/50 pin cable?didnt understand why they send me a cable to connect pc to hd...

anyway i never used scsi...that the first time..i think....so i cant try the hd connected to a pc...

thanks again

You have nothing else connected to the sampler other than the ahrd drive correct?

If so then set avoid host on id to none. Probably won't make any difference but that's only used when you have your E-mu connected up to a mac/pc.

So they supplied you with a 25 to 50 pin scsi cable, the drive only has 50 pin connections and you're having to use a 25 to 50 pin adapter with the cable?

If you do buy a new scsi cable I would go for an Adaptec preferably if not then Belkin. You may as well get a 50 to 50 pin cable to save the use of any adapters.
