"invalid disc" E3XS

Postby shreddoggie » Wed Jun 13, 2007 10:54 pm

Hey - thanks for your help.....

E3 hdd can't be mounted (invalid drive) after mac scsi hookup.
Software saw sampler and disc - all ID's ok - but could not communicate.\
Hooked the EMU up as before and now the disc is 'invalid drive'.

All scsi ID - termination - etc etc is FINE - other E3 discs work fine.
I don't think this disc picked this exact moment to physically crash - spins up fine as always - no weird noises.

It seems that some bytes were overwritten or corrupted in the discs header file. Either by the mac attempting to mount the drive or the software attempting to communicate with the drive.
EMU tells me they have a 'proprietary file system - they share with no one'......... :finger:

(yeah I buy AKAI products now):slayer:

Does anyone know enough about the data structure on the e-mu formatted drive that I could re-initialize the drive without fomatting? I'd take it to a professional (maybe with an empty EMU formatted disc) if I had a clear idea of what to tell them.

thanks,

KALI
