Emu lags

Postby iya » Thu Apr 17, 2008 11:47 pm

I have a E4x Hollywood Gold Emulator and I'm having a problem with some lag. It only happens while the sequence is playing. Whenever I press any function or arrow or try to access a particular item anywhere onscreen it takes about three seconds for the cursor to move to that point. At first I though it was when I had too many samples playing, now I realize it happens even when only a few channels are playing. Any ideas why? (while I wait for my other problem to be resolved in the other section)

i have a hollywood gold too and it does lag a bit when you're browsing menus and using an external seqencer, even more if you are transmitting MTC. mine was even slower before, when i was using os 3.0b and only had 1mb flash memory.. when i upgraded to 2mb and 4.6 it got faster.
you can also use more mono samples to free up some cpu

Thanks for the tip b/c I am on os 3.O with 1mb flash. I'll have to upgrade. Can you point me in the right direction where I could get either? What type of flash does it take? Thnx.

i got it off TECHTONE who had some for sale on ebay a while back. you can send him a pm and check if he has anymore.. its a 72pin flash ram simm.. i think you can use 1mb-16mb ones that are compatible. there was a post a while back about cisco simms that might work.. so you can try searching for that in the forum. im sure adding more ram memory would make it even faster. but unfortunately, since you only have the 1mb (same situation i was in) you cant install the os yourself.. unless you want to risk a hotswap. so you'll need to get a 2mb flash that already has os.4.6 installed.. techtone is your best chance
good luck!

So upon reading the thread where TECHTONE is selling this I've surmised that you had this installed by an authorized Emu repair shop or did you do the soldering yourself?

Just in case you refer to what I wrote there (?), it's just the keyboard models E4k and E-Synth keyboard that has the soldering to be done, like I made clear.
