e6400 ultra - newbie troubles (I hope)

Postby brewmachine » Tue Oct 06, 2009 4:31 am

Hi,
Ive recently bought an e6400 ultra sampler and am now beginning the long hard process of filling it up with samples.. but I seem to have stumbled at the first step
I tried sampling a sine wave; I recorded, looped saved and named it and then placed it over the full keyboard range with the original key at c4 (which is the freq of the sine wave recorded) I can play the sample fine in sample edit/manage mode and it sounds fine (just like it did at source) but when i go the the 'preset' it is placed in, there are definite overtones and waveform distortion going on (i recorded it back into soundforge to check the waveform and its FAR from a sine wave) despite my sampler being totally wiped when i bought it,it still seems as though the preset is applying some form of processing to my sample automatically.
can anyone shed any light on this, Im working my way through the manual but as you know its pretty chunky and im keen to get recording asap
thanks in advance
danny
