Noise from hard drive

Postby rtype909 » Sun May 23, 2010 9:49 pm

hi,

I currently have my Emu E6400 connected to a pair of speakers with a Roland V-synth going into the inputs and I can hear the hard drive coming in and out of sleep from the speakers? This can't be right - what might I be doing wrong?

If the roland is not connected there is no problem

You have a ground loop. The easiest way to get rid of the noise is to use balanced cables on the output of the E6400.

hi, thanks for the answer! Sorry for raising such a mundane problem but I have just started to get back into production and have forgotten about 'ground loops'
