Is there any possibility of having a ~64 or ~128 Gb SSD work with the E-mu E4Ultras? Any makes / types that can be recommended?

I have tried Samsung SSD before looking this up

I have an SSD working in the original EIV using an ACARD ARS-2000SUP Ultra SCSI Hard Disk Drive. This is a 3.5" sized case with an internal SCSI 50 pin port to connect to the internal SCSI port in the E4, and it has a SATA connector on the bridge board (SCSI to SATA) which accepts a 2.5" laptop sized drive. I installed a Samsung 830 Series 64GB SSD. Please note, the EIV is running EOS 4.62 because EOS 3.0 (machines stuck with a 1MB CPU FLASH) can't use a drive larger than about 9GB. If reading this thread please remember i'm talking about the original classic EIV which doesn't have IDE ATA, it has only SCSI that is why this works. This should also work in the Ultra and I will test in an Ultra at a later time.

The Ultras does not support ATAPI-drives on the internal IDE-port.
I think that is the reason why you cannot connect an ATAPI ZIP-drive, a CD-ROM or SSD to the internal IDE-port.

I'm sure the SSD will work via the ARS-2000UP with a E4-Ultra.

The ACARD SCSI-IDE bridge adapter is a work around. They are hard to find and they are quite expensive.
At the time I purchased my AEC-7720U new I paid half the price you pay now for a used one.

By a quick search on ebay I found:
- ACARD ARS-2000LFS 68-Pin Ultra160 SCSI-to-IDE/PATA HDD Adapter ... for US $249 plus shipping
or for US $25 a
- ARS 2000D (AQUA RELIEF SYSTEM PORTABLE THERAPY SYSTEM)
... OK... the last one is not the think you need...

In the end the SCSI-IDE bridge adapter is not a feasible solution because it's too expensive and too rare. AND ... you still need the SSD.
