Need Help with Emu Mo'Phatt modulator

Postby aileron62 » Tue Jun 28, 2011 7:46 am

So' I purchased a used mo'phatt from guitar center. Got home with it and found that I couldn't get the sound to work. I'm still pretty new with this type of stuff..but I looked through the manual and figured out how to mess with everything, but neither the instruments or presets would make any sounds. I also noticed I kept coming across a "not installed" message, which seemed odd. Considering there was all this stuff on there. I got the guitarcenter people to try to help me out but they were clueless and seemed more concerned I wanted my money back. So I reset it to the default settings to try to start over, seeing as it all works. Now all the presets are gone I guess? I don't know if I should expected that, I thought it would go to the default sounds aswell. So I got EMU support to give me the links to all the stuff, which had me download E'loader, which I guess is used to install sounds onto the mophatt. I got it set up, using an mpk25 as a midi interface and trying to load sounds from my pc. but, it doesn't seem to respond when I try to load stuff up on it. I also don't really know if I'm doing it right. If you have any ideas on what went wrong with it in the first place that would be cool. If you know how to help me get it working that would be even cooler.

***Edit sorry didn't read properly***

Are you able to activate the built in demo?

From manual:
To Play a Demo Sequence
1. Press and hold the Master and Edit buttons at the same time to enter the Demo Sequence page. The screen shown above appears.
2. Select a sequence using the data entry control. The Enter LED will be flashing.
3. Press the Enter button to begin playing the selected sequence. The screen shown below appears.
4. Press the Enter button again to stop playing the sequence.
5. When a demo sequence plays to the end, the next demo will automatically begin playing. The screen will display the new demo name.
6. With the sequence stopped, press either the Master, Edit or Arp/Beats button to Exit the demo sequence mode.

There should still be 512 presets available in the unit even if you have deleted all the user presets, the factory ones should still be there.
Might be something wrong with your MIDI setup - MPK not talking to it properly for some reason.

I think that you have writen the problem in your thread!!!

"not installed"

Open the unit and look if there is any Rom installed!

The above message said everything in my opinion......

The Mo Phatt is empty!!!!

If VDS is right (very likely) then they have sold you a Mo Phatt with no ROM sound SIMM in it.

Aren't there a few other things that could be "not installed" as there was a turbo version of the Mo Phatt?

You can put most of the commonly available E-mu ROMs in it and there's always a few on ebay, but they do cost.
How much was the Mo Phatt?
