sluggish response in my E-synth Ultra

I chucked all of my sounds from my cd-roms onto the internal harddisk of my ultra and now the OS seems real sluggish on key presses and everything. Anyone had this issue?

is it scsi or ide? it's slow without even loading anything from the drive? never heard of this :shock:
