Filtering with EOS 4.7

Postby DS-1 » Sat May 31, 2003 7:15 pm

I was told that EOS 4.7 is suppose to allow you to filter not just on triggered notes, but throughout a long sample but it doesnt seem to be working for me. My filter sweeps work fine if the same or new notes are constantly being retriggered, but doesnt allow me to sweep throught out 1 sample, I hope that makes sense to you guys
Any help would be fabulous

Do you mean if you triggered a 2 bar break you're not able to apply a filter envelope to it? Or say use cutoff on the mod wheel and have it sweep through the 2 bars? I think what you may be trying to do is turn the rotary wheel to get a sweep on the sound - if that's the case it won't work but I may be barking up the wrong tree anyhow!!!

i think i know what you are trying to get at ds 1... you want to take one long note and filter it... like if the note is a whole note, you want to say, close a lpf and then open it up again.. right. well the eos that i have, 4.1? you can do that only with filter frequency.. but the resonance you have to have retrigger each note over and over again inorder to get the resonance to flow...

i was told that in 4.7, you could infact have the resonance filter just like the frequency did in the older eos's.... but i haven't messed with 4.7... hell i don't even know were to download it.

um... possible way to see if it works is this, go into you cord edit screen, you know the section were you tweak the filter attributes and such, and just hold down the note and see if you can hear the q change and you adjust the q setting. if it doesn't work.. then it would be logical that you can't do it in the matrix mod... but if it does, then you should beable to do it in the matrix mod.. if the later is the case try inverting the precentage... if you have a controller like the mod wheel, and you use a low pass filter you need to have it set at -100 percent inoder of the filter to close, since it is "moving down" from the orginal soud. now if you have it on high pass, then you need to invert the percentage for the modwheel to take affect since the filter is "moving up" from the original sound. but that is all i can think of since i don't have 4.7.... and if you don't have a controllable q like i have heard, then i don't think i would download .7, what is the difference?

hope this atleast gives you some idea on were to start....
