filter cutoff????????

Postby jamie8286 » Fri Feb 27, 2009 5:38 am

Hi guys been having a look though the old posts but carnt find what im after on filter cutoff, I found this----------

FilFreq -Filter Frequency- Gives you control of the cutoff frequency of the filter in place. EX. Use the Filter Envelope to control this.

But on one of the posts some one said that on the zplane filter ( FilFreq = morph) so does this mean there is no filter cutoff on the z-plane filers? Only the morph function to move between the two filters? So if this is right you have no way to open and close the cutoff on the separate filters only adjust resonance or have i missed something? Or does it mean that you can adjust the filter cutoff using the filter envelope via a midi control for instance.

Going to do some more reading tomorrow i thinks........... :???:

Sorry, that might have been one of my posts that confused you... basically, yes, the short answer is use FilFreq to control the cutoff, with the envelope or a MIDI controller or whatever.

The bit about FilFreq=morph was more in terms of the technicals of how the filters exist in the operating system... just ignore it. The very short version is that there's only one parameter that's adjustable in real-time, and while they call it FilFreq it isn't always controlling the cutoff. Don't sweat it, just pretend its cutoff.

right got ya so if i was to assign my midi controller to the modulation destination "filter envelope decay" and set the decay amount really low would this give the two filters a lot more sharper cut off points emphasizing the morph points alot more? Can the filter decay be controlled on real time?
