Recycling breaks onto the emu...

Postby Wil Blaze » Mon Feb 15, 2010 8:46 pm

So... i've just fired up the E6400 for the first time in 2 years... been mad lazy recently and only using software. I picked up an RFX card the other day... and i've just installed it... and i'm looking forward to falling back in love with my emu all over again!

So... in the past i used to do all my beats on my mpc, and just use the emu for bass, pads etc... but today i don't have my mpc here, and i wanna chop up some breaks and stick em into the emu... and i got 2 questions for you lot...

1: What's the best way to approach this in terms of voices/presets... say i've got a break sliced into 10 pieces, do i want them all on the same voice? or on 10 different voices in 1 preset? It's been so long i can't really remember how this kinda thing affects the ability to process sounds further down the line... i'm pretty sure back in the day i just used to put 1 sound on 1 voice and that was a preset... never really messed with multi voice presets...

2: My version of recycle doesn't support SCSI... i'm gonna get in touch with propellerhead and see if i can get legacy install files or whatever, but in the mean time i'm using Sound Forge to send samples... this is fine for sending a single bass sample... but what about sending 10 (or more) slices of a break... do i really have to do them one by one? Is there a way to do multiple samples at once in soundforge? or is there any other free software that might make this easyer for me... eos link or whatever? i've never really played with software that relates to the emu before... i used to do everything with the hardware interface...

let me know your thoughts guys

peace
