Software to create presets for EMU?

Postby atomicmidi » Thu Dec 30, 2010 6:00 am

I'm a complete Noob looking to create presets on my computer for use in EMU 5000 Ultra.
I have upgraded my E5000 to CF storage for quick transfer but I cannot see a simple way to create presets without doing it on the EMU - the slow way... is there any other way to do this?

I have been thinking about Sample Robot software (basically an automated sampler) , which theoretically allows you to just drag and drop wav's into the preset but it doesn't support EMU format.
It does however support EMU EMULATOR X format (wav) and Soundfont2 formats but I am not sure if EMU Ultras read this format even with 4.7 OS.

Any help much appreciated.. I got this sampler mint for £200 and now it seems I will be spending more than that on the software just to make presets.. :???: There must be an easier way??

Have you got a ASCI kybd port on your ultra
If so making presets is easy as you can navigate the ulta with a computer keypad aswell as name your sounds and banks.

You can also make a detailed bank that can be used as a template containing cord settings, Envelopes, lfos, root keys etc (eg multi samples with root keys and Hi-lo keys) this can be saved without the sample data and when you load it back up it will use the voices that you have in your memory at that time.

So if you create a five octave template with voice 1 as c2 voice 2 as c3 etc then the first five samples will load into the bank.

You can create a folder full of useful templates and find your bank creation is much quicker.

If you have a device that can send assignable continues controller info you can create maps with cord settings that allow thes controllers to modify lfo speed - lfo rate -amp envelope shapes - filter envelope shapes - fx send - an so forth

with this setup the process of sound creation becomes much quicker and you can easily tweak the sound just to try it out without going through loads of mutli value entries that take time and effort.
I hope this helps
I can post some templates for users if they want them ;)

For a while I thought noone will reply to me, i.e. my question is just too dumb! :D

Well, I have been proven wrong - thanks for the help guys, will check out these options asap!

JAHFUNK - if you could post some templates it would be of great help, to me and I am sure other new users could do with some guidance also!

Fired up some sample CD's yesterday (formula 4000) - sounds fantastic, really sparked up my creativity again. ;)
I would like to create my own sounds also but so far I find it easier to do it in software, I realise it is because I haven't mastered EOS yet, once I do I have a feeling I will be doing it in EMU. 8-)

Also I am checking Zoeos, is it really free? It says 55 euros on the website which is not a lot but I would only get it if I knew it will do what I need.

You have to use the version that is available in this forum, exactly here:
http://www.emusonacid.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3643
Use the updated link in the initial posting.

Paul, the developer of ZoEOS, has stopped development of this application and informed the people here that ZoEOS is now available for free. He gave all source files so that other users can complete work on ZoEOS. As ZoEOS was ment to cover all platforms (Windows, Mac OS, Linux), some things are not working, especially SMDI - the sample dump to the sampler via SCSI.

But as JAHFUNK already said, is editiing directly on the machine, specially when you have a ASCII-keyboard connected, the fastest way.
