HiHat with Pedal Controller

Postby davidecullen » Wed Mar 17, 2004 3:27 pm

Hi,

I'm not sure whether this is solvable with cords, but what I want to be able to do is to have a different sample played dependent upon the state of the pedal controller, i.e. open/closed hi-hat. That's maybe the easy bit, because I would also like another sample to be played when the pedal controller hits 127 (playing with the pedal). Finally the most difficult bit is
that if the controller hits 127 and is then immediately dropped back, then yet another sample should be played (i.e. a splash).
Basically I want to simulate the features of a Roland TD-6 drum box
with pads!

I've had a few ideas but am not familiar enough with cords yet as
my only instruction is from the Emu manual.
Thanks for any help.

One way - Check out realtime crossfade.

The following example will chop between 2 samples but only when your pedal is at value 127.

You will need to assign 2 voices to the same midi note but with different values in the Voices-RTwin screen. The first one range 0 - 126 and the last as 127. You dont need to set any fade if you want it to chop brutally between the 2 samples. Then in the cords assign the pedal to AmpXfd.

Once you've done this you could set up a 3rd voice which is open HiHat say 64-126 and have the closed one 0 - 64 but put a fade between it - might work.

There's an example in the manual except they assign an LFO to AmpXfd instead. It's page 330 in my manual.
