I've had my ULTRA for 18 months now and I must admit, I'm something of a preset slut. Anyway, the more I read about the ULTRA, (I also have the X) the more I'm convinced this thing can be anything you want it to be. I'm convinced it's one of the most flexible tools for making sound available. The downside is of course that you have to be able or willing to program the thing. I've been playing with cords for about a month now, and I still dont quite have the hang of getting what I want but I'm getting there. This forum's been pretty fantastic for ideas and howtos. Being a novice I dont have much advice to offer for programming except for persistence is the only way. I did want to express my thanks to the contributors though, its making the learning curve alot less steep.

is my phrase of the week.

I'm the same with cords... it's not intuitive is it? has anyone seen a glossary, at least? At the moment I'm just experimenting, writing down what works and pinning it to the wall... which is nice.

But know I'm working in a backwards way.

Umm... We do have a glossary, to a degree on this very site. It is the sticky at the very top. The one called Sources and Destinations. This will get you sorted with the emu. We all contributed to this about a year or so ago. I still think there are somethings that haven't been addressed. I know there are a few sources that don't seem to do anything to my sounds.

That should help you out though.

cord'ing couldnt be easier, ive had my emu for about 3 weeks, i dont know if they had anything to do with waldorf, but the synth & routing params of the waldorf xt and its modulation matrix, closely resemble the that of the e4xt, and thus the learnign curve has been quite a breeze. i have been using the mpc for years, and this is the first real sampler i have owned, i used exs24 a few times, and thats were i learnt assignment and mapping techniques.

Where you get it???
