EMU Envelopes - Wows and growls!!!!

Postby ezman » Wed May 28, 2003 7:24 pm

Anybody got any good settings for aggressive wows and snarling growls etc. Here's some settings i used earlier using a looping wave setting low pass to lowest and put 100% on filt env in cords...
rate(level)
Atk1: 22(100) Atk2: 9(100)
Dcy1: 22 (?100) Dcy2: 0(-100)
Rls1: 0(-80) Rls2: 0(-100)

Some of the settings maybe pointless (like the release settings) - thing is I'm sure with the multi-stage envelopes some very aggressive sounds are possible.

Anybody care to share any ideas!?

I can't give ENV values cos I'm not at the studio and can't remember them :shock:

But I can say: try using an LFO in conjuction with the multi-stage ENV. For example, you would have a multistage envelope that first closed, then opened and then closed a 6-pole LP. Then you attach an LFO (in cords) to the filt freq as well, but put a delay on the LFO trigger. So then your filter is first modulated by the ENV and then the LFO (or LFO1+2 at the same time which makes a more complex mod pattern but is harder to "tune")

So you get a sound that goes (B's-A's represent filter open, O's filter halfway, and W's filter closed)

<--------ENV mod-----------------><---------LFO takes over--------------->
BAAOOOWWWOOOAAAOOOWWWOAOWOAOWOAOWOAOWOAOWOAOW

You can also have the LFO's modulation "fade" out by linking it to another envelope on the cords page.

Anyweah, hope this is helpfull
