How do I setup a Emu e6400 ultra with a mackie 1202 mixing desk

Hi I’m new to hardware and I’ve got myself a emu e6400 ultra and a mackie 1202 vlz3 desk and I was looking for some help in setting it up.... do I go from the main L+R into a stereo line and then out of the desk using the main outs to my audio interface and in to my MacBook Air also with regards to the submix outs do you go from the left out to line one on the desk to have a separate line for bass and then use two other submix outs to the the other lines for a kick, snare etc  any help would be great as that is how I’d do it but i want some clarification from folk who know about this stuff I’d be greatfull cheers
