My new old ASR 10 Keyboard is the most awesome machine on the planet

Even though one character is dark, I am trembling with pleasure. It is beyond belief how this machine actually sounds. The darkest and deepest of them all!

One of the worst things ever to happen to the audio industry is that the horrible CreativeBlasterSound bought both E-Mu and Ensoniq and destroyed both of them. I could lament for days. Yet, who knows what they would have done, I just had an MPC Renaissance in the house for testing and checking it out, and I was just having a look at this atrocious program they deliver with it, no thanks. Maybe it was good that E-Mu and Ensoniq both stopped at their respective peaks, like the Beatles.

I already bought a SCSI card reader, I am thinking about letting a pro mod my machine, like a motorcycle. I do want to keep the floppy, as it might come in very handy at some point. With the AKAI's that have the OS in flash, i don't bother about keeping the floppy drive, but with Ensoniq, this does not apply.

what mods are you talking about?  i know what you mean about the dark character and it being a shame about creative.  i wonder if they know how people regard them.

im buying an asrx soon for an ensoniq fix.  and with the scsi card reader, and a usb to scsi cable itll be in heavy use in no time.  i just wish asrx tools worked as well as it says it does.

I want an internal card reader plus a floppy drive, this will require some metal work, hence a mod. I'll have it done by a specialist, who can make this happen even if there is no internal scsi connector already present.

The asr's are great. I have an ASRX.. had an option to get an ASR88 but i didn't have space and my ASRX came with 8 output expander installed. (an expansion that requires a whole extra 'box' with the asr10 and 88)

you need to have the SP3 scsi expansion board installed in your 10 in order to use a scsi cf reader with it.. hope you checed that before ordering your cf reader

The converters play a very big part in the asr the sound is very rich and thick, i own an asr-10 rack and a eps-16 plus rack, they are keepers for sure.

I use to use Lotharek floppy emulator in the EPS, worked nice, it booted directly from it.
