E6400 stopped working?

Hi everyone i am a newbie on here,just joined today.I have a problem with my e6400....i had removed the effects board as i decided to sell it,i managed to remove it correctly without bending any of the boards or causing any damage to any joints etc,however when i powered the Emu back up the screen is blank and refuses to boot?
the only action i can get if it loads new os from floppy....but then when it has done so just goes blank.My friend has looked inside (he repairs synths etc) but found nothing wrong,he reckons the machine is 'searching' for the effects board which i agree with.I am thinking of new os ? any help or suggestions would be very welcome as i am missing this fab sampler so much.Greg
