I'm having trouble to identify my emotionally favourite S sampler. I love the grit of the S1000, but the effects in the 1100 is cool, and the power and class of the 3200 is just blowing me away. Right now ATM I mostly use the 3200.

S1100.
Best balance of early sample dirt and nice punchy high quality analog pre-amp that overdrives really well. 3200 too clean, 950 too dirty for me. Of course, if I were doing hip hop, 950 all the way. There is something about the S1000/S1100 OS that is great in its simplicity and doesn't get bogged down in tons of features. There is plenty of other gear dedicated nowadays for that (FX, ,mangling etc).
Nice, tight midi response too.

Hey!
Just registered today, and I must admit that I am a real AKAI lover.
Right at this moment, I own one CD3000, one S3000XL and three S2000
I love the S2000 the most, because it is so easy to understand. Wonderful sound. One of my S2000 ist heavily modificated: SCSI onboard, internal SCSI Card-reader and full options.

For me it's either the S1100 or S3000 (Classic) for sound. Personal choice.
