Ive previously been looking for a sampler that can sequence and sample at the same time, this i think only the asr-10 can do. But are there any samplers that can play back via an external sequencer, and at the same time sample new sounds? Im looking for a way to lay down tracks without interupting the music, without a computer. Is this someting an e5000 could do?

this can be done on my E6400 Ultra. I assume it can be done on all the Ultra models...check out the manuals on EMU's site, the E5000 should be able to resample while playing aswell...or wait for someone else to come along with a definate answer

Im not talking about resampling but sampling new sounds from outside the sampler while internal sounds are being played back. Is this what you are talking about aswell?

ahh ok im saying you can resample the sounds from the sampler while being sequenced by the emu...

so you want to be able to play sounds back from your sampler and sample external gear? why would you want to be able to do that?

The Fantom X will basically do that, blend samples with incoming audio. It's not cheap though. You can also arrange samples into 8 long audio tracks, basically you can sample up to 512 megs of sampling and use it as an 8 track audio recorder. you can also hit sample after the sound has plyed and it will "skip back" and sample what was coming into it or being played from it up to I think around 45 seconds before, you set how long you want the skip back buffer to be... I have the rack (won't do the 8 audio tracks... only the keyboard will). Honestly it kicks the EMUs ass into oblivion, but I'm used to the OS on the EMU and can work quickly on it. Trying to get to know the Roland better, but it's much more difficult to navigate compared to the EMU. Check the Roland site and watch the videos, it will blow you away...
