routing and filters with rfx

Postby jin » Tue Oct 03, 2006 5:15 pm

Hi,
is it possible to virtually use the analog optionnals inputs and put two filters for the same sample, inside the sampler?

Certainly it's possible. I've never done it, but it seems like you could get some cool insanity happening. Seems like an XY controller would be a good controller for this setup.

Thank you. In fact, the possibility to apply 2 filters on one sound is one of the main things wich make me wanted to upgrade for an ultra with rfx.
If you have an rfx, can you try the trick and let me know what append?

Be carefull with feedback in one Maschine ;-)

I made this with two RFX Cards ( 2XEmu) via Adat . Works.

Too bad. I believed that the rfx routing was really flexible. I also dreamed to use an external fx rack for reverb, but ok, it's just a dream. :???:

Why is it a dream? Your idea for use was one of the reasons they developed the rfx card. I believe if you delve a little deeper into the manual you will find that there are ways to use the rfx as an external fx unit for anything.

I use it to insane stuff with my bass. Please read page 46 of the RFX manual.
"Processing External Inputs"

If you have any of the input expansions you can even route more than one stereo pair through it.
Its quite flexible. You can even route the signal through the insane EMU filters which is described on page 47.

Hope this helps

I know it's possible to use an emu with rfx like an external fx unit and a filtersbank, and it's great.
But my wish was to use a lexicon or a tc electronic instead of an rfx reverb plug in, inside the sampler. I thought "rfx card is not only an fx processor, but it will make my emu a whole mixing console, with aux sends and returns".

But yeah, you help. I will read carefully the rfx manual.
Thanks to you two.

Ok, I read carefully the rfx manual, and I'm disapointed.

It's impossible to assign more than one rfx bus to a pair of outputs (eg: busses 3 and 4 on output 3). The only way is to mix busses in gfx. And the gfxs MUST be assigned to main out.

Am I right?
