What's the AES all about?

Postby evilandy3000 » Thu Oct 26, 2006 10:44 pm

Hi everyone,

I've recently bought a MOTU 896HD. I can connect my E-MU E4XT Ultra via the AES.

I'm curious to what benefits could this bring.

From my understanding, I could either run one channel via the AES (L+R Stereo)

or,

I could run 8 outputs through the analogue channels.

Therefore, wouldn't my 8 analogue outputs be better?

Can I run 8 outputs via analogue AND one L+R AES output at the same time? If so, how?

Kind regards,

Andy

The Aes option just mirrors what is coming out of your main analogue outputs (1+2), you can use them at the same time. I use mine to free up analogue inputs for other equipment on my soundcard.
