Hard disks (internal) - E4K questions

Postby groovebox » Tue Apr 03, 2007 3:09 am

Hi - have an E4K - have RTFM and had a scan through a lot of the forum.

If this question has already been asked/addressed - a pointer to that info would be gratefully appreciated.

Basically I do know that only certain (small / old) SCSI internal hard drives can reliably be installed into the E4K.

My question is - is there anyway a IDE can be used internally? Or is there such a thing as an SCSI-IDE external case maybe...

I am guessing that if I want to replace the original failing internal HD I am stuffed...?

Any clues welcomed.

I don't think there is any way to use an ide drive in an non Ultra E-mu that I know of. The Ultra has a dedicated ide connector on the main board.

There is this place that sells internal and external scsi drives, I got an external from them that works great, looks like they have internals that will work with the E4K.

OK - thanks for the info and that link.

Has anyone out there brought one of these drives from EBay (from that supplier) and got it all working 100%.

As I am in NZ I am a little frightened that it'll all go pear shaped.

Thanks for any comments.
