I read the previouse thread about hardrives below .

How ever in the thread no member mentioned which hardrives they are using in there samplers, I also noticed that the hardrive must only use 1.7 amps.

Do any members know which hardrives use 1.7 amps?????

I suppose you are referring to internal HDs.

Well, the built-in 270Mb drive in my E4K is a Quantum LPS270S so I guess that works. My external one is a 1Gb Quantum Fireball.

Does anyone know how to tell which year a sampler was built by referencing the serial number??

I use an internal laptop harddrive (IDE). I dont think thoes small 2.5" harddrives take that much power.

Yes, with eos 4.7, and the disk formated as FAT.

Its an ibm harddisk, typical used in IBM TP T40

Nothing special about it.. it works like a charm, and is sooooo quiet!!

The hardrive you are using is a Hitachi HTS541080G9AT00 I cannot find much info on this drive other than the drive uses 5 watts to boot and 2 watts when reading.

P = U * I, so.. that means

Amp = 5watt / 5volt

max use = 1 amp ??

is that right, or am i totaly wrong?

in other words, if its right.. it will never drain anything close to 1,7amp in regular working mode, but i can drain up to 1 amp on boot.

Did the emu ide cable fit this smaller drive or did you need to use an adaptor????

You need an adaptor, becuase you need to connect the power to the disk aswell.
