Hardware addons - are Classic and Ultras the same?

Postby vout » Sun Sep 28, 2008 12:53 pm

Hi - I'm looking for some information about all the various hardware expansions available for the E4 range. For instance are the adat and audio expansions the same for Classic and Ultra's? i.e. could I take an 8-output expander from an E4 Classic and put it in an E6400 Ultra for instance. Also are the original E-Synth roms the same as the E-Synth Ultra roms? And what about the D-WAM board - it is only available for the Ultras, right? Does anyone have a pdf for the D-WAM? it is not on EMU's site, or anywhere else I can find. Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible here.

Cheers, vout

Ultras and e64/E4 classics have different hard wares. The e64/E4 classic does have 30-pin sim memories and Ultras/e6400 does have 72-pin memories.

However, I'm not sure what the different are between the e6400 and Ultras, except that the Ultras has got IDE connection and more ROM-memory.

It would be interesting to know what the different between the e6400 and Ultra hardware, if it is possibly to install Ultra ROMs in e6400?

cheers/

Yes, as far as I am aware, the 8 output and ADAT expansions from Classic E4s work in Ultras, although they are not compatible with the RFX.

No, they are not the same and are not compatible.

Yes Ultra only.
