Hi Folks,

My name is Adam and I'm an E-MU-Holic.

I'm 35 and I got my e6400 (with effects option) back in 1995 or 96 (I can't remember exactly when they were released but I was all set to buy an e64 when it was superceded with e6400). Unfortunately it curled up it's toes on the weekend with what I think is a fried power supply. As it happens though, I recently picked up a fully optioned E4Xt and an ultrasized ESI-32 to complement my kit. They all look so good nestled in the rack together!

For the last couple of years I have been using a...software sampler(Kontakt) and I can quite comfortably say that they just don't compare to the hardware models except perhaps for signal to noise ratio. The good thing about the software revolution is it means that we can pick up hardware samplers fairly cheaply on the second hand market.

It's a shame E-MU no longer supports hardware but that's progress I guess.

24...been using e64 for 5 months and an e4k for 2...i also have an mpc...love my hardware...im only using software to record now...i wish i had the loot for a 2 inch machine, so i could bypass the computer all together.

No longer supports hardware? Tell you what, just a week ago I recieved eos 4.62 and the flash prep on floppies (coupled with a nice card that said "with compliments" from Creative :P). And a week before that they gave me a printed version of the sysex document. Long live EMU support! =)

I'm 52, intalled the first e6400 in 1997 in a simulator ride, running sound loops 12/7. There are 8 zones, two of which are elevators.
I put a yamaha midi filer in the 2 elevators serving the ride. When the elevator/ride operator pressed the start button, the 6400 plays a midi file that triggers lights AND sounds from the 6400. There are 8 vertical lights in the corners, like the old star trek turboshaft, they sequence faster and faster, as the sound goes higher and higher. I sampled an old analog synth for that. We make them think they weny 20 stories down, instead of 1...
As far as I know, it's the only midi controlled sound & light show in an elevator!
Of course, I had to have one for the studio, spares & new sound development, don't you know...javascript:emoticon(';)')

And I just bought 2 more for the house studio on ebay.
I got a E6400 ultra for $300, FX, dual MIDI, keyboard & memory, and a E6400 for $280.
I'm quite happy. Waiting now for my external drive, SCSI burner, & the sampler discs I bought.
