noob folder/bank/present query

Postby felun » Mon Jan 18, 2010 11:24 pm

Hi, im recording sound into my emu, and i fumble my way through this proccess somehow, but id like some-one to breifly explain how the folder/banks/etc structure works. I find the 'sample manage' and 'preset manage' and 'banks' setup and getting the sound into a preset or bank to be confusing...including when do i PLACE the sample and then Export the sample?!?

What should i be doing in what order?? if theres a link to a tutorial or if some-one could list the steps to doing this it would be appreciated.

thanks

you should really read the manual, sure it will take a little bit of time, but it is really worth it to know your sampler inside out so you can get the best of it. as far as PLACE sample, that is option after sampling a sound. you can also just press KEEP. but PLACE will make a preset and place the sample in it. EXPORT is only for saving a sample or preset to disk.

the structure of folders/banks etc is this.. you have folders on your disk or hard drive. in those folders are banks, in the banks are presets, and in the presets are samples.

what should you do in what order? depends, what do you want to do? be more specific.

as far as cords, you can set them up and then save as a preset. and then load that preset before you sample a sound.

thanks for the answer..

what im trying to do is load up the sampler a lot of single samples. and then setting up each with cords and saving them.

What i find confusing is how to do this..so far i -
Browse the system and open the folder i want the sample to be in.
in the 'sample edit' section i...
record sample
place across keyboard
name it

from this stage on im not sure how to 'send' that up into the 'preset manage/edit' section... ive fluked it a few times, but im not sure how ( im away from sampler at moment)

thanks

after youve got some samples loaded , go to preset edit , that will bring you to a screen that says VOICE - MAIN , there you will see a list of all the voices in the preset, V1 G1 sample. if you put the cursor on the sample, you can use the data wheel to select different samples. if you want to add another sample to this preset, press UTILS >NEW

from this point, to edit the cords, you need to have the cursor on V1 or whatever voice you want to edit, then press EDIT VOICE. there you can edit the filters, envelopes, lfo's etc. and cords too.
