Hi guys,

new with EMU samplers (got a E64) and am enjoying my experience so far, very happy to find such a good community! Reading through old threads has been very informative. Just wanted to say that I had trouble with my encoder (jog wheel/dial/whatever you want to call it) and after trying the fix to no avail ordered some from the US and now have 5 spare, so if you want them at cost and are in the UK pm me, should only be about £10 each with p&p. They are Bourns ECW0D-C24-BD0009 for reference.

Sorry if this isnt cool to do on here, just thought Id save someone the trawling around Ive been through the last day or two.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I'm looking for a Bourns ECW0D-C24-BD0009 encoder for my E6400 Ultra. I sent a PM to the OP.

Would anyone else have any leads on places to buy this part? I found a couple of sources online, but nothing suitable. Mouser will charge >$50 with shipping, and onlinecomponents require a min order of $100 or they add a surcharge.

I sent an email to EPR. I wasn't clear from their site, whether they stock the part or not.

BTW, I'm in Australia.

The right type would be ECW0D-C24-BC0024!

When I turn the encoder on my ULTRA, I can feel 24 detents per revolution and I can see 24 impulses (cycles) per revolution. (->BC0024)
The mentioned BD0009 has 36 detents per revolution but only every fourth detent leads to a change of the value (9 cycles per revolution).

By the way: I also got an old Ensoniq DP4 of the first generation (purchased August 1992) that uses the ECW0D-C24-BC0024. Up to now I don't have ANY problems with this encoder.

I got the part number from the encoder I removed from the sampler. What you are saying makes sense though. Is your encoder modded with capacitors? I wonder if the 9 pulse per revolution part was chosen to avoid too fast changing a signal.

By the way, would you happen to have a good source for purchasing a ECW0D-C24-BC0024?

Otherwise, the OP has got back to me already, and has a part available for a reasonable price.

Just posting back to let people know that I have received a rotary encoder from Bruler. He was really good to work with. Cheers mate!

I installed it today, and it works perfectly.

It has 36 detents per revolution, and 36 pulses per revolution. No problems there at all.

Can you describe the installation process a little - I assume you had to remove the board the encoder is mounted on and desolder the original part.

Any tips?
