I just took a look on the inside of my new E4XT. Thankfully it's already loaded up with the IDE drive and the necessary IDE kit. Did Emu ever sell them like that stock?
Something that caught my eye though is that the HD has a sticker on it that says 'E4.5 Prod Set Sounds". It's a 4.3GB Quantum Fireball LCT drive. It includes a few folders and has an E-Synth folder too. The E-synth rom isn't installed from what I can tell though. I guess the E-Synth presets are included? Not sure what the other stuff is.
There are two ram sticks installed in the row of 6 slots, so 128mn of ram. When looking at it from the front there's a couple slots closer to you on the right side. One of them is the 'boot' SIMM which apparently is the OS. But there's another little chip in the 2nd slot farther back (less than an inch) and I don't know what that is. I think it said something like 2X32 or something on it. What is that chip?
One more thing: samples/presets started loading automatically, some pianos to be precise. Does the E4 usually load something of your choice automatically off of the HD, or do I have some kind of rom chip installed somewhere that I don't know about?
