IDE Drive Died - Can Anyone Recommend Replacement?

Postby paul_the_bishop » Wed Jan 23, 2013 11:50 am

So I bumped/nudged/looked at my E5000Ultra funny and the 40GB IDE has stopped working that has been in it since purchase. INot too big a drama, just a few easily re-sampled sounds stored on there. So I chucked in a 500GB IDE drive I had and that didn't boot up in there either. Maybe it's too much? I'm getting 12V across the Positive and each of the 2 grounds and 6.80-ish across the positive and VCC.

Looking on threads here most have gone to 2.5 - but the threads are a couple of years old - then again maybe much hasn't changed in IDE world from then - what would be an acceptable maximum capacity? Would be keen to try this USB mod further down the line but just a replacement IDE would do for now.

Cheers,

Paul.

EOS 4.70 supports up to 128GB via FAT32.
Western Digital, WD Blue Series, WD800BEVE (80GB, approx: 80 Euro) or WD1200BEVE (120GB, approx. 90-95 Euro) are good choices.

Otherwise go for a SCSI CF-cardreader like SCM PCD-50B.
With using FAT32 you can backup your files to a PC.
