Some quick questions...
Does anyone uses the built in EMU sequencer instead of triggering through an external sequencer ? Is it tighter for drums ? Can you sync it with an external sequencer to use both at the same time ?
Is is comparable to the sound of the MPC 2000XL sequencer ?
All the best,

Ok, Its probably not advisbale to be used on huge sequences, but i use it for hip hop, which is basically 8 bar loops and maybe 8 tracks max and i find it great (because i can edit by ear rather than fucking with a mouse and pc)
I'd say its tighter for drums but thats because ur playing them in from the board, and there is very very little latency (if any)
It transmit MMC so u can use with an external sequencer, Maybe sysex (should be in the manual)
If you aren't using an E-Synth or E4k i would say it doesnt make much sense using the inbuilt sequencer (the main benefit is ease of use)
I don't use the MPC, but i fail to see what about can make your sequences "tighter", i mean sequencers generallly have similar ppqn's so there shouldn't actually be any difference. If you mean sound quality then yes, the akai doesn't seem to sound as much on the low end.
