SOUND CARD AND MONITORS

Postby rippin snare » Sat May 03, 2003 10:42 pm

I'm not sure if I should even be posting general topics like this on this board but I think it is all still relevant.

I am wondering what people are using in terms of sound card and monitors and if anyone has any experience or comments on the echo mia sound card?

i have the darla, 20 bit version. bought it about a month before 24 bit one came out... for the same price. oh well.
i think echo products are wicked. i love the sound quality of echo. i originally made house music, just to get the sequencing down, did it all in audio, and i showed poeple my dubs, and they couldn't believe the sound quality. they even went so far as to campare to multi thousand dollar studios.

i personally would get another echo card if i needed a new one. but mine is still kicking after all this time.

oi oi!

I defiunately agree with that. I had the layla20 myself but it just friend. The breakout box is toast so now I need a new one. I think I will in fact stick with another echo card.

thanks for your response

My layla 24 rocks the house!
and it was like a thousand dollars cheaper than its rival, the motu 24/96 system.

proper card with proper quality,

btw my boy has a mia card and its great,

only diff is the layla's noise floor is 6-8 dB quieter than the Mia

WHATS UP RIPIN

How ya been,? Long time still...

ey ey duncan!

yea the layla24 is a sweet card. You really can't get much better then that. After my layla went down i wanted to cry. I really can't afford $1300+ right now for a card of that caliber so am going to get the best one in my price range to get me by. Either way the Mia is still quieter than my old sound card and coupled with a pair of radial JDI and mogami cables you really can't be beat.

Now I just have to figure out what new monitors to get since I sold my tannoy... any suggestions???

btw duncan how is the music going? I really want to hear some... and how is sean doing? I haven't talked to him in months since he lost his phone (yet again)... tell him I said hi and to call me..

Andrew, Ive had my Truths for about 8 months now and im VERY happy with them. You really cant beat the price i dont think, but you should come down and check them out. I think I may end up foaming my studio next weekend. Speaking of which does anyone know any good sites that would show you specs to build a bass trap?

hey kent.. thanks for the offer to come down. I would love to check out the monitors as well as be able to work in a track with you. Haven't we mentioned we were going to do that for like 2 years now?

how is the problems coming along too. I haven't heard from you in a while so I'm guessing you got everything ironed out?

Duncan... I'm glad sean and yourself are doing good. That is great to hear. You both have come a long way since I first met you. I'm proud of all you have accomplished and even managed to outstick things that I couldn't. All the best
