I applied this filter to every single sample in a song that I am working on, and it seemed to help. I applied the allpass with a point value (Q) of 99 and now things seem to come in clearer and more intelligible.

One of the things this filter does is put samples in phase, so they line up. It is made for complicated eqing or stuff like that, so the manual says. I perfer it more so for frequency removal. And now I think I will begain a practice on FIRing everything allpass as well.

I noticed particularly that some of the quiter kicks I had in my track seem to come through more so now. I also noticed that my cymbals had a cleaner sound as well. I am wondering if some of my issues with recording and getting good sound is caused by phase cancelation. This filter it would seem removes that issue. My ears are plugged right now due to allergies so I wonder what I was really hearing. I mean it sound like crap today due to my ears being plugged, but after the FIR it sounded better. eh... about ten precent or so...

I have some other things to work out. My song is turning more so into an experiment session... I hope to get this done and sounding good soon. I need to get my bass sounding good, I have another idea for that... man, kind of fustrated...

But anyway. I would recommend that all of you try this out on your next track or an old one.... Run every single sample through the FIR and see if there is a difference in sound. I suggest doing the all pass instead of the other settings. If you do use one of the other ones, use the all pass filter right afterwards just for good measure. Be sure to use the same point or q settings for each FIR process, and all pass with the frequency as wide as possible (22049, i think). Different Q's might cause issues.

If you guys are concerned about time; I did 127 samples in about 2 minutes or so. The longest it took to do one sample was like 2 seconds. The rest were just flashes. I think all the emu is doing is setting the phase when you do the all pass and nothing else. It must set it's self so that it gets a certian value first, like plus or negative. I have had success using this filter in creating a break from three different sources. It all sounds the same, no one would know they came from different places.

Once you guys have done this, give a shout on how you liked it. Did it make a difference? Did some issues you where having disappear?

I would like to see if anyone else gets a good result from this exercise as I may just think it sounds better when it could just be my imagination.

Of course don't save your bank, just incase you don't like it.
