Sending Samples via MIDI?

Postby Dark Syndicate » Fri Sep 07, 2007 12:17 pm

Im happy recording in most samples but ive got these cycled oscillator waves which i want to send via MIDI (so i dont lose my loop points)
The files are really small so i dont think it'll take that long..

So anyway.. im sending the sample from soundforge, on the emu im selecting midi sample dump (receive) but its not getting past 0% (the emu is receiving midi but it stays on 0 out of 23 packets)

what am i doing wrong? is there something else which needs configuring?

you need to have two midi cables hooked up

1 for in, on one for out

I have both in and out connected, in soundforge ive set it to the correct midi port.

The midi lights are flashing both ways on my interface too

is there a box in the soundforge "sample dump" menu, that is marked "handsahke"

if so, experiment with marking the box, or not marking the box

I have not used soundforge, as I use apple computers.

good luck

Make sure your sampler ID is also set correctly in the sampler configuration.

If you are still experiencing issues you can configure sound forge to perform an open loop dump although this is not a recommended method as you loose the error checking/handshaking functionality and it is therefore not as reliable. Chapter 14 in the manual covers how to do this.

Ive been able to send samples to soundforge

on the emu.. Sample manage -> dump -> transmit
Soundforge.. Tools -> sampler -> get sample

That works and it also works to send that same sample back

but trying to send my waveform samples from soundforge it just hangs..

Soundforge says Nak.. 0%
EMU says Recieving packets 0 out of 23

:???:

the waveforms are looped 44.100 24bit mono files... very short samples eg 1 full cycle of a Nord Sawtooth etc
