I have only ever sampled on my E6400 Ultra but as it is now dead and unrepairable I want to purchase a software based application.

I mainly want to sample phrases and riffs via analogue in and be able to 'Beat Mung' them etc, basically be able to do all the standard editing you can on the Ultra.

I've read that most soft 'samplers' are actually only players of existing samples.

Any recommendations for sampling software that will let me sample through the analogue-ins of my sound card and then do BPM editing ETC? PS, I'm not interested in any EMU software / sound card combinations.

it can chop up beats/samples etc, pretty versatile - deffo not just a 'sample playback' VST - you can get creative with it.
