SMart money is on the ultras, regardless of the fact that emu x may ahve more lfo types and more filter types, truth is they sound like any other soft sampler, no different.

gotta say I agree to some extent. I just got an e4xt yesterday and I've only spent a couple hours messing about, but there is quite an audible difference between the 2. I've been using the emux studio since about when it came out and I've had a fair bit of issues with it. from the GUI not working on some banks and from the sound clipping and erasing banks it seems far less stable for some stuff than a piece of hardware. on the other hand I really like the on screen display for all of the parameters. It's just always been how I worked. I'm still not that familiar with the pages of the E4xt but what would be great is if the software gui was connected to the hardware. that would be paradise.

I just got e6400 ultra few days ago. I am using EmulatorX on PC for two years. Hate to tell to software people but e6400 is so much better sounding that i wont use software ever again. No i am not fanboy, i am simply not deaf. And yes i have room treatment and i know how ti mix.

I just can not believe how much of bottom end, presence and warmth you can get with this old machine...just simply mono effects or whatsoever..brilliant!!

Hardware sampler is better. i learned that in harder way :grumble:
