wrecker13... it's cool. having a scale with all whole tones, or whole steps would be a whole scale. you had it
also if i remember right, a whole step scale's degrees would be reduced to 6.
now... lets take this a bit farther. using the pitch wheel... okay, the first value i can get in my cc window for the pitch wheel is 120, and that is just slightly floating above zero, so lets do something easier. the midi cc's. some of you may already know this, but for those who don't
i mean really, i don't need values that go almost to a million when the emu only sees the pitch wheel cc as a 0 to 127 value.
for simplisity lets use the midi cc A as your pitching up, and your midi cc B as your pitching down. this is how the values in of your cc would match up with the pitches of the diatonic scale. of course the values would be the same going up and down.
given the pitch cord is set to 36%, the following should be true.
for a half step transition, midi cc should be either 10 or 11, it actualy is 10.583333 blah blah blah.
for a whole step transistion, midi cc should be 21. (eh, what can you say, it isn't the most accurate controller.. but really you want hear too much difference)
so the values for the cc for a major scale would follow approximately:
tonic>0 "C"
supertonic>21 "D"
median>42 "E"
subdominate>52 "F"
dominate>73 "G"
submedian>94 "A"
leading tone>115 "B"
octave>125 "C"
(+ or - 2 values)
you know, what is interesting is the dominate is actualy the seventh note of the chromatic scale... equaled tempered tuning really is out of tune. he he.
i suppose we can figure the rest of the modes for our selves.
