ok... i have heard about those... can you tell me what is special about them? you have piqued my interest!

when was the typhoon os released for that one? is it particularly nimble with sampled loops?

That is huge for a 12bit.

the original yamaha OS was a total dog

Typhoon, a software company in Sweden, decided to write a third party OS

this new os made the Yammy easy to use.

I sold my sp-12 turbo, for $500, and picked up the TX16w for $50

I have some soft-samplers, but i love to use this thing

I am going to start collecting these

how are you using it? recycle style? bits and pieces? what realtime control does it allow?

cool. looks like it makes some funky organ sounds! would you use something like that for drum and bass?

i found out that the gravis ultrasound is a bear to use. i think ill stay away from it and just use my AWE64Gold. its much more compatible with a variety of uses anyway.

yes indeed folks, this is the way the ancients did it (the AWE32/64+tracker), it definately sounds very 90s. im glad i looked into it, and think i will keep on my quest for a better understanding of this method. i find it refreshing and intriguing to say the least. it certainly yields a sought after result and opens the door to other similar methods. you are forced to be in the now so to speak, with 4ppqn (i think) and some special commands you can glitch out breaks easily. im still learning tho. one cool thing about the AWE64gold is that it has a 20bit spdif out, giving it high fidelity... the AWE32 has a 16bit spdif, and all the other AWE cards seem to have a place on the circuitboard where an spdif jack would go, perhaps allowing a modification...

nothing you couldnt do in another way, but the point is that this is a classic tool and its limitations are food for creativity and innovative pattern writing. its weaknesses are its strengths so to speak. you must combine several lesser things to achieve a greater result.

Well i recently bought a Roland Alpha Juno 1




Ive wanted one for years and really love the sound of it.. especially when ran through a valve compressor\eq and resampled into my emu!

I love the classic hoover sound and have found whilst the unique tone comes from the original oscillators unusual shape\sound, width modulation of a saw wave and the pulse\saw width modulation being done differently to normal synths.. the major factor to the sound is from the chorus effect - if only it had an input to route other synths through that chorus!

I tried once when it first came out or thereabouts, but after owning a Juno 60, it didn't do it for me so I settled for a JX8P.
