you mean from ebay? yes. i used buy it now and they told me they listed the item in error, meaning they didnt have it in the first place.

i do have a search on ebay for it. guess ill just have to take it in the ass again when i find one. man i had no idea the expenses would add up like they have...

wish i had just gotten an older mac for the oasys host since it would be likely to include a serial port.

ive been told that usb isnt quite as solid on this mac as it is on newer ones, that i should use a serial port midi interface instead.

will this work?

i just remembered an old orange micro product
it is a scsi pci card w/ 2 serial ports on it
here is a product page on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Orange-Micro-Grap ... B00004Y2TW

here is a Colorado Springs dealer, who has one on consignment.

orange micro, does not exist any more, but the drivers for os9 should not be hard to find.

you re really tapping my memory for this one

I mentioned earlier that I'd sold my organ to Razorlight (see the first page of this thread). Their lead guitarist finally came to pick it up from my house a couple of nights ago. I got my daughter to take a photo of us with the organ.

"The Power Macintosh G4 (Firewire 800) series is similar to the "Mirrored Drive Doors" series that it replaced -- both share an identical case design complete with "mirrored drive doors" and the same bus speeds (133 MHz or 167 MHz) and RAM (PC2100 and PC2700), for example -- but the "Firewire 800" models have faster optical drives and add a single Firewire 800 port along with support for onboard AirPort Extreme (802.11g) and Bluetooth 1.1.

Perhaps most notably, however, is that the "Mirrored Drive Doors" models are capable of booting in MacOS 9, whereas the "Firewire 800" models are not."

im embarrassed to say that you are right mr toranaga. my mac is an firewire 800 model, and in order to boot to os9 ill have to find a quicksilver model of similar stature. thats what i get, once again for buying too soon.

DOH! :spliff:

The quicksilver is really LOUD. I have had one since they came out.

i finally tackled this problem shotgun style. i bought 4 of these babies on ebay, one is bound to work!

now i can use renoise on mac with my oasys card! oh man this is gonna be tits!

i have since found a mac swap list called LEM SWAP

http://groups.google.com/group/lemswap

i asked for a serial port on that list and it took all of 3 hours for one to find me. oh the miracles of modern technology coupled with the warm glow of brotherhood that is the mac community! ;)

it does work, its documented. its just finicky. i want something i can rely on. if my g3 works, ill be the the only kid on the block with one! do beige g3s get hot? looks like a passive device hooked up to the cpu. i wonder if a nice copper replacement with a fan would work? i hate fans.

Once, I had a rack-mount powermac 9600.
