been using my e64 ultra for a while and now that i've got my head around EOS i am looking into SCSI so that i can speed up the process of sample trasfer etc...

I got a scsi card for my pc (adaptec) but i still need a cable.

What connector needs to be on the end that plugs into the emu? there are so many types and i'm a bit confused.

also does it matter what brand i get, do some work better than others or should they all be the same.

finally can anyone reccomend a good place for scsi supplies in the uk?

thanks for your help i know this is basic stuff but i'm confused so i thought it best to ask before i spend my hard earned!

I recently bought one off eBay and its working perfect

The EMU end uses SCSI 50 Centronics Male but the end which goes into the PCI card will probably be different, im sure someone on here will know which kind

SCSI CABLE: I've used a scsi card on my mac to my e5000. You use the SCSI 50 Centronics Male from the EMU to a standard SCSI connection cable, which plugs into the computer pci card or chains through a zip drive (I do it this way).

SCSI CHAINING/KERNEL PANIC: Chaining is better because - at least on a mac - if you turn on the computer with the SCSI attached you sometimes get a kernel panic - the whole computer freezes up. I've found that if you turn the zip drive off before booting the computer up, it doesn't happen.

SCSI TRANSFER APPS: One thing you need to remember is that you will need a software app to send samples to the computer.

There are a number of small apps on a mac - such as SMDI - but they aren't very useable. The best by far is Bias Peak 4 - it's a sample editor program. Careful, as later versions of Peak removed the SMDI features which are required for sampler transfer.
