sample share

Postby override » Fri Mar 14, 2008 12:16 am

i propose anyone with cool/rare emu roms or cd's dump them to their samplers and upload the files (in DOS format or as chickensys virtual drives) for all to share! beats paying $300+ for them on ebay
(considering emu does not manufacture them anymore and the profits of the sellers do not go to emu, whats the harm?)
heres what i will contribute
roms
- audity 2000 rom (not the xtreme rom, the original 16mb)
- holy grail piano (32mb)
- beat garden (32mb)
*(also have composer and protozoa (proteus 1,2 & 3 sounds) roms but dont think too many ppl will be interested in them)

i dumped all the banks i thought were worthwhile from the emu sample cd's that came with my esi2000 before i sold it.
banks from sample cd's
- electric pianos
- synth mania x
- vintage presets x
- orbit instruments x
- phatt presets x
- orchestral x
- steinway grand & c3 grand piano
- world & world drums
- emu dance
- vintage synths
- synth bass
- dance synths
- hq orchestra
- strings
(all of these cd banks combined are about 500mb worth of original emu samples)

so whats the verdict?

I have the usual 8 CDROMs plus the Emu Ultra Production set (can't remember what's on that), but I may have some other stuff on Zip disk.

I never got around to buying any ROMs, so it would be great to have the 'synth' data (Audity/Orbit etc.) and the Holy Grail piano.

Same here.. i do not have any kind of sample rom or cd's.. except the stuff i sample my self.. (which i also could share), but i can be helpefull with storage space online.

We could set up a cms system on my domain www.psy-works.net and use it as a trade/sharing site.
(today that site is just a deadspace running media wiki).

and we can offsite link it to my server which have 200gb space.

what do you think?

I actually uploaded an e-mu disc I have'nt even tried myself about a year ago. It was a torrent, so I bet there is no one seeding it now. It would be good to have a place to put such things.

I am interested too. The best I can give are some breaks, such as the Amen (from the actual record, not sampled from some other choon) and other breaks.

Okay..

its not much.. but its easy to use.. and not very complicated :).

i have set up a wordpress page at www.psy-works.net which we can add posts with links to our samples or sample library. If you need a place to dump the samples before linking them up. just PM me. i have plenty of space online. But www.psy-works.net does not have that much space for samples (only 1 gb).

feel free to use it. it would be nice to have a common place for all thoes stuff listed in this thread! :)

I am just a little concerned about the future of this forum if copyrighted samples are posted or if the administrator(s) /mod(s) are seen to condone such practice, not mentioning the fact it might contribute to killing the sample CD market. Just a thought...

Regarding the forum, i suggest that it stays clean.. thats why we set up a dedicated page for such.

Dont think it will kill any sample cd marked at all.. .. after all,. we are a very small community.. and the samplecd marked are focused around soft samples and huge libs that have no chance in ocean to fit into small 128mb emu :P But let us give people access to the rare old goods... i know people would kill to get the choir used on Depeche Mode's classic Enjoy The Silence
.. but its impossible to find :)

Well, I understand you concerns, and I agree it would be good to keep it off the forum, but I guess no one can be sued for providing links to other sites? And the sample-cd market for the E-mu is already dead, so, well.
