emusonacid! legacy

I'm trying to connect my e6400 ultra with "SCSI I DB25 Male to Centronics 50 Male" cable to my iomega 250mb external zip driver. But my e6400 doesnt boot.

I'm sure my zip driver is working properly and the cable is brand new.

Can anyone help me to find out the problem?

Are you using a long cable? I had one that was useless with my E-mu.

Try switching on the Emu first and mounting the drive manually.

Failing that, go through the usual things: Check that you have termination on in EOS and on the back of the Zip drive, and make sure you have IDs set correctly.

thanks. i turned termination on on my zip driver. now i can boot my emu when my zip driver is connected but i cannot mount it.

my cable is 1.8m long. termination is on on both device. but i'm not sure how should i setup ids correctly.

here are my current scsi settings

on zip drive: termination is on - scsi id 6
on emu: termination is on - internal scsi id7 - hdd id 8 - floppy is 9
disk button goes to: last
avoid host on id: none
drive saver: never

do i need a "scsi II" cable instead of scsi I?

I don't know what the differences are, but if it's any help the cable I use with my Zip drive is marked "E164535".

It could be that your Zip drive has died. Have you tested it with your computer?

yes i'm using the same iomega zip drive with my mpc..

well... i really dont know what to do.

I think 1.8m is way too long. thats almost 6 feet! most SCSI cables are less than a metre. Also with my Zip drives (I only have Zip100) I always plug into the connector marked "zip" if I am only plugging in one device, not sure if that matters.

With SCSI ID's they must all be different, that is the most important rule.

Does the EOS support more than 8 SCSI ID's? I thought it only used 0-7 like most samplers. But I am new to the EMU.
